As a producer of steels for over 150 years, Sandvik maintains its industry leading position at the forefront of research and product development, building on its brand and reputation for quality products.
Sandvik looks beyond the minimum standard
As an example, Sandvik 3R60 H&I tubing has a minimum 2.5% Mo content for higher corrosion resistance, compared to the minimum ASTM standard of 2% Mo. Sandvik looks beyond the minimum standard for hydraulic and instrumentation (H and I) tubing, achieving higher pitting corrosion resistance, or PRE numbers. International standards, such as ASTM and EN certifications, help to guide distributors and their buyers. The challenge is that many of these standards only provide recommendations for minimum or maximum levels.
Hydraulic and instrumentation tubing
“Whether you are operating an oil rig or a petrochemical plant, the need to boost output without sacrificing safety is ever-present. In the big scheme of things, your choice of hydraulic and instrumentation tubing might not seem critical, but it does make a difference in eliminating risks,” explained James Doughty, Sandvik’s Sales Manager - MENA region for Tube, Core and Standard Products.
“When customers invest in their assets, they don’t want unscheduled maintenance and ultimately production stops, the cost of which can run into millions. Our aim is provide producers with the lightest, strongest, most reliable H and I tubing possible, added James Doughty.
